24 FPS

24FPS is an exclusive annual event of MAAC, and is the most prestigious Awards function for the animation & visual effects segment across the Indian sub-continent and beyond. At the 9th ACEF Asian Leaders Forum and Awards, ‘Gold’ was awarded to MAAC’s 24FPS International Animation Awards 2019, in the sub-category ‘Most Effective Use of Sponsorship & Event Marketing’.
Held every year since its inception in 2003, the event has grown from strength to strength, and has become a springboard to showcase talent.

2019

24FPS 2019: A star-studded night where talents and awards galore One of the most prestigious animation awards, MAAC 24FPS, ended on a starry note with more than 350+ industry leaders and professionals along with students, and faculty in attendance. The 17th edition of the International Animation Awards welcomed over 1200 independent entries from over 75 countries including USA, France, Spain, and UK. Added to these, were the 3500+ creative entries received under various categories from MAAC students all over India. These masterpieces not only stunned the audience, but also gave a tough time to the jury choosing the best of the best.
Popular names from the media and entertainment industry including Marathi actress Tejaswini Pandit and television and Bollywood star Amit Behl were present. The glitzy star-studded event was hosted by RJ Anurag Pandey aka Picture Pandey. The jury panel comprised senior members from top studios and production houses like DNEG, Technicolor, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, and YFX. MAAC 24FPS is a distinguished platform that honours media professionals, young talents, and budding artists in the fields of animation, Visual Effects, Filmmaking, and Gaming from across the globe. The 17th edition of the event simply graced the same.

2018

Spotlight on young talents and celebrities at 24FPS 2018 The 16th edition on MAAC 24FPS 2018 has been remembered as a night of glam and fame. Celebrities like YouTube sensation Prajakta Koli and Marathi superstar Swapnil Joshi were some prominent faces spotted at the event. Young and bright talents from MAAC and the film industry received fame and recognition for their brilliant works in animation. The jury panel of 24FPS 2018 comprised senior members from top institutes and production houses like Technicolour, FTII, MPC, Tata, Prime Focus, and 88 Pictures. Dignitaries from the film and television industry graced the event, which was attended by more than thousand MAAC students from across India. The Annual International Awards was held on 17th December 2018 at Sahara Star, Mumbai.

2017

MAAC 24FPS 2017 sets a new record in the animation industry The 15th edition of MAAC 24FPS 2017 was held at Sahara Star in Mumbai in the presence of more than 4000 MAAC students and stalwarts from the media industry. Like every year, this year also MAAC honoured excellence and recognized talent across the globe and rewarded MAAC students and young artists for their outstanding work in animation and filmmaking. The 2017 jury panel comprised members from leading media and entertainment industry like Tata Elxsi, DQ, Assemblage, Xentrix, Toonz, Double Negative, MPC, Prana Studios, Prime Focus and others. Over 113 submissions were adjudged to select winners under various categories.
The event is an initiative to promote works done by young animation artists and filmmakers. The promotion of works and recognition of young minds give a boost to the animation industry.

2015

24 FPS 2015 sets a new record Over 1500 students participate; Chhota Bheem, Arjun: The Warrior Prince & Baahubali: The Beginning win laurels MAAC recently hosted the 12th edition of 24 FPS Annual International Animation Awards, in association with United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), on December 14, 2015, at the Sahara Star in Mumbai. Dignitaries from the media & entertainment industry graced the occasion, and were honoured for their contribution under a new award category introduced this year – Movers & Shakers.
Amongst those felicitated were Rajiv Chilakha, founder of Green Gold Animation & the maker of the Chhota Bheem franchisee; Arnab Choudhury, director of animated film, Arjun: The Warrior Prince; E. Suresh, founder of Studio Eeksaurus, whose animated film, Fate Line won the prestigious Annecy Award this year; and Srinivas Mohan, three times National Award Winner & VFX supervisor of Baahubali: The Beginning. Also present on the occasion was Manjari Phadnis, of Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na fame, who will make her Marathi film debut in 2016. Also, present were more than 1500 students from all across the country, who were awarded for their creativity & hard work. 24 FPS continues to grow & provide a creative platform to talented individuals. We congratulate all the winners & look forward to the higher participation in future.

National Students Meet

200 students from 40 cities create life-size artwork at the Rann of Kutch – in just five hours January 2016: MAAC held the National Students’ Meet (NSM) at the Rann of Kutch from 17-20 January. Not only was the location amazing, so were the students! During the event, 200 MAAC students got together to create a life-size artwork within just 5 hours.
The idea behind MAAC’s annual Students’ Meet is to encourage animation & VFX students from all over the country to come together and be a part of creative & technical seminars, workshops, case studies, panel discussions – as well as to participate in fun activities. NSM provides a platform to collaborate on live projects, network with eminent personalities of the animation industry, and get access to real-life experiences & industry insights. During the four-day event, MAAC students attended workshops & spent time with leading names from the industry. Sanath PC, founder-director of Firefly Creative Studio, took students behind the scenes of the mega blockbuster, Baahubali. He spoke about VFX techniques used in the movie and kept the audience spell-bound with its magic. National Award-winning director Shoojit Sircar was the showstopper at NSM 2016. Sircar conducted a session on film-making, which was followed by sessions on the craft of photography – conducted by acclaimed fashion photographer Colston Julian – and animation design by veteran film designer Dhimant Vyas. There was even a workshop on pre-production, conducted by Sanjiv Waeerkar, chief creative officer at MAAC. As the curtains fall on NSM 2016, students look forward to having their work entered in the Limca Book of Records, and a year full of learning & fun.

2015

MAAC students have a blast in Goa MAAC recently conducted National Students’ Meet (NSM) 2015 in Goa, which received an overwhelming response, with more than 300 students from 40 different cities participating in the meet. We bring you the highlights of this fun & learning event:Day1: What better way to start than by checking into a beach facing room! Once relaxed & ready to get started, a fun-filled game, Reborn was organised to spark students’ creativity & instill a sense of team building. The day ended with a karaoke session, which had students singing & enjoying all through the evening.
Day 2: The formal inauguration by MAAC business head, Ram Warrier was followed by two incredible sessions by Yulien Tso (supervisor & senior compositor – MPC Advertising), and E. Suresh (founder – Studio Eeksaurus Pvt. Ltd.). The icing on the cake was the special screening of the animated movie, Fisherwoman and TukTuk that won India its first ever award at Annecy International Animation Film Festival,2015. Post-lunch, students attended workshops by industry stalwarts, including creative workshop by Ajit Rao, acting in animation by Kulvinder Bakshish, and pebblemation workshop by MAAC R&D team. Day 3: This was another day of learning that started with a panel discussion between veterans in the field of animation & VFX. In the next session, students experienced a live session where prominent animators like Ajit Rao, E. Suresh, Arnab Chaudhary & Sanjiv Waeerkar drew on Wacom tablets. The first half ended with a session by film director Arnab Chaudhary, popular for his animation film, Arjun – The Warrior Prince. The evening came to a close with the much-awaited masquerade theme party. The gala night also saw winner announcements for various inter-team competitions organised during the three days of NSM. Winners received a gold medal. For a special competition organised by Wacom, the winner received a Wacom tablet worth Rs. 8000. As the event came to an end, students said their goodbyes & carried back fond memories of NSM 2015 – fun workshops, amazing interactions, and exciting moments spent by the beach, and at the gala night.

2014

National Students Meet 2014 by MAAC concludes successfully NSM is one of the most eagerly awaited events and is conducted twice a year for MAAC students. This is an opportunity for them to interact with industry experts and fellow students. The event comprised of interactive live sessions & workshops in Hyderabad, which were conducted by experienced and successful professionals. Students worked on live projects, visited animation studios and enjoyed a trip to Ramoji Film City.
More than 150 students, apart from the faculty, staff and team of MAAC, attended this four-day, fun-cum-learning event. NSM 2014 saw interactive sessions on ‘VFX Technical & Showcase’, ‘Making of Chatur Chetan’, ‘TVC Film Making’, ‘Animation’, and ‘VFX in Feature Films’ by eminent personalities such as Mr. Madhusudhanan (National Award winning VFX supervisor), Mr. Kaizar Mandal & team (Creative Director, Dreams Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Vaibhav More (independent film maker & founder of Vaibhav More Films), Mr. Suresh EC (director-animations of Aisthis Media Creations) and Mr. Viral Thakkar (Computer Graphics Head (Films) of Pixion) respectively. In the event spanning four days, informative workshops on theatre and photography were conducted by Ms. Suruchi Aulakh, theatre artist and acting trainer modelling lead from Xentrix Studios, and Mr. Ashok Kandimalla, a photography expert. Other entertaining activities such as SPLASH, a pool party and Grand Gala Night were organized. However, the showstopper of the event was the ‘Scene set up with Miniatures’ Workshop conducted by the Research and Development team of MAAC. This workshop focused on the study of modelling, texturing, lighting and special effects, which are the most important functions in the Animation and VFX production pipeline. Students were made to create a complete miniature model in just 3 hours with the help of the team and the output was phenomenal. The workshop was a major crowd puller at the National Students Meet 2014. Three cheers for the MAAC team & the students to make this event a grand success!

National Students Meet 2014 MAAC students have marked their calendar from 21st to 23rd January, 2014 to attend one of the most eagerly awaited events – the MAAC National Students Meet (NSM). NSM is an opportunity for MAAC’s budding animators & VFX artists to learn from renowned industry experts. Students will also attend live sessions & workshops in Hyderabad, work on live projects, visits animation studios and enjoy a visit to Ramoji Film City. Get Set Go!

MAAC Maharajas in the Pink City! The most awaited event of the animation industry comes to Jaipur. The National Students Meet (NSM) is the biggest chance for MAAC students to interact with and learn from industry stalwarts. 2013

MAAC’s Tenth National Students Meet receives overwhelming student response The 10th annual National Students Meet (NSM) received an overwhelming response, which was organised at Resorte Marinha Douroda, Goa from March 18-22, 2013. NSM is the biggest gathering across the country, organised towards creating a platform for MAAC students to interact with industry experts and their fellow counter-parts regarding trends in the Animation & VFX industry. More than 200 students participated in this five-day fun-cum-learning event.
Learning from the Experts Students received a unique flavour of workshops, alongside knowledge sessions conducted by industry stalwarts such as Nishith Takia (Krayon Pictures), Piyush Panjuani (Equus), Sapan Narula (Director of Photography), Kulvider Bakshish (Theatre Performer, Director, Actor, Trainer), Guru Vaidya (Adobe), Chetan Sharma (Animagic Studio), Gayatri Rao (Animagic Studio), Amit Rane and Kane Lew (DR Caesar Photography Studio), and Shashank Tere (Production Designer). Gala Night Prize Distribution The Gala Night marked the final evening of NSM 2013 at Goa. Students were awarded for their works completed during the NSM sessions and workshops. WACOM gave out latest, high-end tablets as a prize towards the Digital Painting Competition. ADOBE gave out cash prizes to Quiz Contest winners. After five days of fun, learning and creativity, students let their hair down and shook a leg to the tunes of the DJ; a fitting end to the event. Kudos to the MAAC team and the students who participated for making this event a grand success!

From time to time MAAC organises nature & wildlife exploration trails for its students in scenic locations such as Ranthambore, Sundarban, Sariska Tiger Reserve,Coorg, Ayodhya, Matheran and Amboli.
